Vespers

A 133 x 105 cm grand-format scarf in 100% pure China silk — generous enough to wear as a shawl, a wrap, or a voluminous cowl. A mirrored, painterly landscape of soft hills and water dissolves into its own reflection in muted washes of sage, dusk-rose, taupe and cream. The liquid weight of China silk lets the image settle and pool against the body, holding its atmosphere however the silk is folded or tied.

Editor's Notes

Vespers takes its name from the last office of the day — the hour when light goes long and the landscape loses its edges. The design holds that exact moment: a horizon doubled and softened until hill, cloud and reflection are no longer quite distinguishable, less a view than the memory of one. Worn, it reads as a wash of dusk colour gathered at the shoulders, the China silk cooling the palette into something contemplative. The eye is given nowhere sharp to land; what the wearer carries is a kind of calm.
